Filling in the blank space

It has been exactly a year and 18 days since I last posted anything on this blog. Feels like we have so much catching up to do but, I’ll just fill you in on some of the year’s highlights.

We got 2013 off to a great start by promoting iRunThis in Northampton, England thanks to our girl Ashlee. She organized a photoshoot, showed off some t-shirts and told people about the brand. The response was good and, Northampton will be a destination in the future.

In March we teamed up with Namibian singer, Mushe in his quest to win the title of Best Male Artist of the Year at the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMA’s).

Vote Mushe

We would spend the next few weeks urging people to vote for him and as a result, not only did he win the much coveted Best Male Artist of the Year award, he also won Song of the Year, Radio Song of the Year, Best Afro Pop, Best Kwaito, and Best Single awards to make it six awards in total on what was a memorable night. In April we celebrated our new t-shirt design by having a “Sharing” competition on Facebook. It wasn’t a big event but, it was the first competition that we ran and worth noting. The winner walked away with the new design making her the first one to own it.

In June we released our first piece of winter clothing in the form of the iRT Varsity Jacket which sold out much faster than expected.

In July we met Shawty-P, a talented young artist. We looked at some of her work and it just reignited that desire in us to showcase talented Namibians for the world to see. You can see her work on her facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pandeinges-Drawings/470383536404427

In November, we showed our support for the awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancers by running a Movember competition. Participants would have to upload a picture of themselves rocking their moustache and push to get as many likes possible.

And then just recently we decided to make our website open to the public. It is still undergoing minor construction but, is ready for action. Have a look in your spare time, and don’t be shy to drop a suggestion. http://www.irunthis.net

The journey continues…………..

Trimming

Due to limited materials, mix-ups with orders and regular headaches……..we have decided to stop using so many different colours for printing. I’ll upload the chosen designs at a later stage. Those will be the ONLY colours that you can get the t-shirts in from now on.

Aniway, I’ll leave you guys wth this awesome fan pic

Sixpack Artist Collection: Jonathan Zadawa

It’s a late Tuesday evening and I was just about to go to bed and then, I came across this……….

The t-shirt took the 14th spot on http://www.english.mashculture.net ‘s top 25 t-shirts for 2011. I don’t find the tee so amazing to be honest, the only thing that caught my eye and made me even write about it is the 3-D looking teardrop.

You guys can expect some sort of 3-D design from us as well……One day 🙂

Different Worlds Collide

When Andrew and I started i.R.T we wanted to build a brand that would bring all types of people from different backgrounds, proffessions and lifestyles together. Sort of like a bus stop.

So, whether you’re an expert in the corporate world,

A trend-setting model or music artist,

A thrill seeker,

A hardworking tough-guy

Or a chilled out youngster……..

I Run This is where different worlds Collide

Be Loud & Stay Proud.

i.R.T learns to fly

After the “i.R.T Matrix” design got released, Andrew and I were thinking of doing something a bit adventurous to welcome the new t-shirts in style.

Then just the other day, Desh asked me if I wanted to join  him on one of his test flight……….there was only one possible answer to that question 🙂

Dee teaching me how to Run It

Dee, Isaac and I were already pumped up, one of us would even get a chance to sit in front in the co-pilot position. My plan was to hijack the plane, fly westwards and go sky-dive into the Atlantic ocean. Unfortunately I got the backseat instead.

We thought we were going to fly in the expensive looking jet thingy but, that wasn’t to be. Our plane was alot more…..humble

Gone

Looking down on Windhoek from up there was amazing, especially after the sun had set and all of her lights were switched on. It was an awesome experience. Isaac even got to fly the plane for a minute or so.

Thanks for the flight Desh…..You Run This.

Photoshoots are awesome!

Lots of people have told me that having a photoshoot is serious business and things get pretty stressful for both the photographer and models. Andrew and I had our first (virtually unprepared) photoshoot though, and it was AWESOME.

The sun was about to set but, we still wanted more pics of our guest model Pombili  and she was nice enough to continue shooting on that chilly afternoon even after sunset.

All in all, the day was great. A special thanks to Pombili for Runnin It infront of the camera  and to Absai, our photographer and founder of NAWAZONE for a job well done.

Cant wait for the next one.

Ongushu United

A thousand apologies for the silence on this site. We want all of you to know what has been happening with the brand.

Andrew and I had the opportunity to design soccer shirts for a Sunday league soccer team from up north.

When i said “up north” I really meant it

Our time was limited so we had to get to work A.S.A.P. We had our friend Verena over to help us with the design of the shirts. We thought it would be nice to have a lady’s opinion…….Mistake. After several minutes of endless criticism , we relieved Verena of her duties and we continued on our own. She did however manage to make some good contributions before her unfortunate dismissal.

How the shirts looked in our minds.

How the shirts actually came out

The printer ended up making a stupid mistake on ALL of the shirts.  Instead of writing Ongushu Groceries, he wrote Grocery. The team’s owner was quite impressed with the shirts though, so he didn’t really mind. The guys were over the moon with their new kit. Just like a person would take a brand new car for a spin, they put their shirts on and had a training session.

We at i.R.T would just like to wish the boys the best of luck for the rest of their 2012 league campaign.

Meet Princess M.

Image

The nights in Windhoek just seem to keep getting colder and colder. On this particular night we found ourselves sweet talking the guards over at NBC radio. Princess M, one of the radio presenters on National Radio gave us permission to join her in the studio and snap a few pics of her “Running It” on the mic. The only challenge now, was to sneak our camera onto the premises. Something that NBC does NOT allow.

We talked about the weather, plans for the weekend and shared some jokes. But it was the “The Rains In The North Were Really Good This Year” conversation that really set the tone. They instantly liked us so much that they completely neglected to search our green backpack……Mission Complete!Image

After speaking to the receptionist, Lady M came to greet us and led us to her studio. The lighting was dim, the TV was on Big Brother StarGame  and the sounds of “Umlilo” filled studio. We spent a few minutes talking and then she had to read a few announcements.  When she sat down on that chair she was a completely different person . The chemistry between her and the microphone was amazing. Then after the announcements, Princess M was gone and Matilda was back.

i.R.T Self Service Part 2

“We’re back! And this time we mean business”

Those were the very words we used On Wednesday when we went to work on Operation “i.R.T Self Service” after our disappointingly failed first attempt. Even though the confidence was sky high, our fingers were still crossed.

When you work with a pool of Blood, Sweat and Tears all over your face, mistakes like this will most definately happen.

We started pretty late with the whole process, 17:26 to be exact. Andrew was already on site as I rushed through 5 o’clock traffic. He was finalizing some artwork and pleading with Mr.S (the owner of the building) for him not to  close for the day until we finished. To be completely honest with you guys, I had no idea what I was doing at first. Andrew and one of Mr.S’s employees were right in it……cutting into things, tearing away at other things and printing even more things. I just stood there, wanting to help but, the sound of Mr.S shouting …”DO NOT WASTE THIS MATERIAL OR MAKE MISTAKES BECAUSE IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE” was ringing so hard in my ears that I didn’t know if I should.

After shaking off the nerves and drinking a painkiller for the damage done by Mr.S, I joined Andrew. A few mistakes were made on my part but nothing major. I guess in life you always have to take some sort of risk if you’re gonna reach a goal. This time it payed off……This time

The  day was a success and the next day we completely finished all of the shirts.  To make the day even better, we spotted Princess-M sporting an i.R.T top  and she was happy enough to take some pics and spend a bit of time with us.

Will post about that very soon.
